| The STU shape was designed as a STand Up player,
though it's not uncomfortable to play sitting down.
The two pictured here are both made mostly of mahogany. The one on the left has a strip of maple and rosewood on the top and the back is laminated quartersawn maple and walnut. The pickups are (neck) a Carvin AP11 and bridge) a DiMarzio Chopper. The inlay is a mosaic of curly maple and anodized aluminum. Maple neck, ebony board. The STU on the right is mahogany with a through core of quartersawn curly maple and walnut. It has two G&L singlecoil pickups, and they sound fantastic. VERY responsive to the fingers. The mosaic is maple and abalone. Maple neck, rosewood board. Other STUs in stock include a (mostly) walnut body with two hot DiMarzios and a Duncan at the the bridge and a birdseye maple fingerboard. I built a semi-matched set of three STUs a few years ago so that I could gig with one each in three tunings and not have the hassles of dealing with altering outputs every time I changed guitars. The have tops made of (mostly) 1) maple, 2) Nigerian rosewood, and 3) very curly local cherry. They each have Carvin Humbuckers at the neck and Lace Sensor T-styles at the bridge. |
